Front desk hosts are great! They are extremely helpful and super pleasant. Alex made sure we know how to get help if needed especially at night when there’s no English speaking staff at the front desk. Yuya and Dani saved us from missing our scheduled tour. The first taxi that we were waiting for didn’t come and my family’s getting panicky. They helped us get another taxi and we got to our tour’s meeting place just on time! So grateful for them. Spacious property for four people. It can accommodate 2 more. We didn’t cook but there are basic cooking utensils provided and front desk has seasonings. Love the river view. If it’s not that chilly I would have stayed at the patio longer to see the sun rise and just people watch. Joggers and people walking their dog by the river as early as 4 am. Heater works great. There’s also air purifier. Love that there’s a washing machine and that we hang out clothes to dry with the drying rack provided. Enough towels are in the room during check in. They have towels near the front desk that you can grab and there’s a hamper to put in the dirty ones. There are towels to grab if you need new ones. There’s no cleaning staff on our 4 days stay. We didn’t mind since we’re mostly out and not need any cleaning or emptying garbage. Yes you have to dispose your own garbage if it gets full before you check out. There are garbage bins on the corner. Comforters are great, pillows are not the fluffy ones.

The room was beautiful, and the view was absolutely exceptional. Sitting out and looking over the river, watching the cranes, we counted 10 at one point, a man sat feeding them, another threw meat into the air feeding hawks that flew down catching fish right in front of us. A woman came at sunset and played the flute beneath our balcony while we watched the sun go down over the mountains and temples, honestly I could have stayed there forever it was magical. Gion, Nishi market, and many wonderful sights and temples are within walking distance. We found a market nearby and bought vintage kimonos for a few pounds for myself and my children. Our children LOVED the little room divided wooden wall dividers and the traditional beds. I have to also make a special point of saying how wonderful the manager Alex is. Not only is he brilliantly helpful and kind, helped us when our daughter fell poorly, and went out of his way to attend to our every need, also seems to run it single handedly, but when we got into trouble the day before we left with transfering our luggage to the airport he sorted everything out for us, made sure it was sent to a nearby depo, printed off instructions for my partner to get there, messaged us to make sure we were ok and had got our luggage ok and just generally went above and beyond. What a wonderful man! Would definitely stay here again and recommend to families.

A Spacious and Scenic Stay in the Heart of Kyoto Kyoto RiverView House exceeded all expectations! The unit was incredibly spacious, easily accommodating three adults with luggage, which is a rare find in Japan. The location is unbeatable—right in the heart of Kyoraku, surrounded by Kyoto’s most iconic temples and shrines. The view from the unit was breathtaking, overlooking the river, two beautiful shrines, and a Buddha statue across the water. Exploring the city was a breeze, with the world-famous Nishiki Market just a pleasant 15-minute walk away. The only downside was that the windows weren’t double-glazed, which let in quite a bit of cold during winter. However, this was a minor issue compared to the overall comfort and convenience of the stay. If you’re looking for a spacious, well-located accommodation with stunning views, Kyoto RiverView House is an excellent choice! ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4.5/5)

Had the pleasure of staying at this hotel during my travels to Kyoto, and I was thoroughly impressed with what it had to offer. The location is outstanding, nestled near Kawaramachi Shijo. The area surrounding the hotel is remarkably quiet, providing a peaceful retreat after a day of exploration. Additionally, the kitchen is exceptionally well-equipped, boasting a complete set of tools that made cooking a breeze. What stood out to me was the thoughtful provision of various condiments like salt and pepper at the front desk, which significantly enhanced the cooking experience. The staff at the front desk were nothing short of kind and helpful, making my stay even more pleasant. A particular highlight of the hotel is the Kamogawa Riverview. The view from the balcony, overlooking the serene Kamogawa, is truly a marvel, offering a tranquil space to relax and reflect on the day's adventures.

The property is located in a very convenient and beautiful area and very close to all the trains and buses. It’s also within walking distance to many tourist attractions and shops and markets. Since it’s located by the river in a relatively quiet area there is no traffic disturbance and I always slept well. The surrounding is simple stunning and the staff are most friendly and helpful. I would like to say a special thank you to the front desk staff Alex who posted my laptop that I left behind by mistake on the same day as I called. He was very courteous, efficient and helpful. I would highly recommend this place and will surely like to stay here if I visited Kyoto again in the future.
